The #Rooswijk1740 project is on its way! It won’t be long before we can share the first findings of the team with you. During the last couple of days a small core of people in the team have been setting up the finds processing, trailing excavation and finds handling procedures and marking the first trenches on the seabed to make everything go smoothly when the finds are coming up.
One thing that makes this project unique is the possibility for so many groups to participate. Especially for students in maritime archaeology this is a rare opportunity to follow an underwater excavation closely and gain experience in the field. Other disciplines involved are for instance are finds handling, conservation, heritage management, museology and communication. In the last category the project focusses on using the latest techniques in 3D recording, multimedia design and transmedia. Students of the NHL Hogeschool Leeuwarden (the Netherlands) will make regular updates using video, animation and 3D models. They have made a trailer for the project, you can watch it here!
#Rooswijk1740 is a project by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands and Historic England.
